FYP: Carotid Artery Analysis
Final Year Project: segmenting the carotid artery vessel wall in ultrasound images using advanced signal processing.
This Final Year Project (FYP) represents a deep dive into medical signal processing. The objective was to develop an automated method for segmenting the vessel walls of the carotid artery to assist in the early detection of cardiovascular disease.
Technical Highlights:
- Implemented edge-detection filters tailored for low-SNR ultrasound frames.
- Developed a geometric constraint model for vessel wall tracking.
- Validated performance against professional clinical annotations.
This was the first major intersection of my engineering training with high-stakes biological data.
